DAY 1 - Reykjavik (Iceland) to Constable Point (Greenland)
Embark on a private flight from Reykjavik to Constable Point, where you will begin your voyage. Set sail and start your journey by cruising along the captivating and rugged coast of the Liverpool Alps.
DAY 2 - Bontkoe Island
Today, we will have the opportunity to explore Bonktoe Island and discover Inuit relics while keeping an eye out for muskoxen and bears. We will also visit the historic station and tundra of Myggbukta (Cape Humboldt), located at the entrance of Emperor Franz Joseph Fjord.
DAY 3 - Sabine, Shannon and Pendulum Islands
These islands have a rich history. Evidence of this can be seen in the numerous discarded explorer boats and huts, remnants of the 1941-44 Weather War, and some of the oldest Eskimo settlements in Greenland. The polar wildlife is also abundant, especially with muskoxen, Arctic hares, and polar wolves. These animals are particularly prominent in the tundra landscapes of Hochstetter Land, which we will cruise by.
DAY 4 - Dove Bay
We have the opportunity to explore the expansive bay with its steep fjords, where magnificent ice fields flow from the polar cap into Borg Fjord. Our journey will take us towards the Soraner Glacier and Morke Fjord, renowned for their rich history of trappers and explorers. These stunning landscapes are home to a variety of fascinating wildlife, including polar bears, narwhals, and walruses.
DAY 5 – France Island
Named by the Duke of Orleans during his expedition in 1905, this rarely accessible island holds the distinction of being one of the most abundant Inuit relic sites in the area. The offshore ice floes surrounding the island are frequented by polar bears, walruses, and whales.
DAYS 6 & 7 - Germania Land and North East Ice capes
As we will sail by the colossal tabular icebergs, which break off from North Greenland and North Canada, the presence of sea ice only adds to the breath-taking scenery. Depending on the prevailing ice conditions, we may have the opportunity to make landings on pristine and awe-inspiring cold desert sites, granting us a chance to witness the immense rivers of ice at Zachariae and Nioghalvfjord fjords. Throughout our expedition, we will keep an eye out for polar bears, walruses, and majestic whales, as they are regular visitors to these areas.
DAY 8 - Danmarkshavn and Morkefjord, Dove Bay
Today we visit the renowned scientific station of Danmarkshavn, where we will have the opportunity to learn about the important research being conducted in this remote Arctic region. Following our visit, we will venture towards the enchanting ruiniform landscapes and explore the famous trappers' huts in Morke Fjord.
DAY 9 - Detroits and Eskimonaes
Our voyage will take us through the picturesque Shannon and Sabine straits as we make our way towards the former Eskimo station. This site holds great historical significance, as it was a key location during the Weather War and is home to numerous Inuit relics. It was in this very region that the last indigenous inhabitants were observed back in 1823.
DAY 10 - Emperor Franz Joseph Fjord
Our expedition will unveil the wonders of this 210km-long fjord, filled with breathtaking sights, including the rocky bastions known as the ‘Devil's Castle’ and awe-inspiring Attestupan, which holds the distinction of being the highest coastal cliff in the world.
Continuing our journey, we will arrive at the iceberg field surrounding the Nordenskiöld Glacier, which pours forth from the polar cap, creating an extraordinary landscape. Here, we will have the opportunity to witness musk oxen and bears, who are frequent visitors to this remarkable area.
DAY 11 - Isfjord
In the morning, we will embark on a captivating navigation near the ice front, then embark on an excursion in search of musk oxen, hoping to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Next, we will venture towards the majestic cliffs of Ella Island, the Narwhal Channel before our exploration leads us to the spectacular ‘Painted Rocks’ of Ardencaple Cape.
In the evening, we will set sail offshore of the Stauning Alps, eagerly anticipating the possibility of witnessing the mesmerising dance of the Northern Lights.
DAY 12 – Liverpool and Ittoqqoortoormiit
During our expedition, we will have the privilege of visiting an Inuit village that was established in 1925. This village is located at the mouth of Scoresby Sound, the largest fjord in the world.
As we venture into the Arctic night, we may be fortunate enough to witness the enchanting display of the Northern Lights. However, the visibility of the Northern Lights is dependent on weather conditions, and their appearance cannot be guaranteed.

After disembarking at Constable Point, take a private flight to back to Reykjavik, Iceland.

The ice-strengthened expedition ship Ocean Nova was built in Denmark in 1992 with high ice class to serve Greenland’s west coast. In 2004 to 2005 she was completely refurbished and has now a career as a small and comfortable expedition ship. The Ocean Nova accommodates 86 passengers in single, double and triple cabins, all with sea-view and private facilities. The double cabins have either two lower beds or upper and lower beds. The triple cabins have upper and lower beds. In your cabin you will also find a desk with chair and ample storage space for clothes and equipment.
In the dining room you are treated to delicious meals in between landings and in the panorama lounge you can enjoy a drink with a breathtaking view of the surrounding polar landscape. This is where PolarQuest’s on board specialists entertain and educate you with lectures on polar biology, history, geology and conservation. There is also a library with panoramic views and a good selection of polar books. On board there is a satellite phone, gym and medical doctor.
